PARIS – A 26-year-old local man was arrested Thursday on felony marijuana charges.

James T. Devlin, of 47 Nichol St., was charged with Class C marijuana cultivation and marijuana trafficking.

A search warrant was executed by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Paris Police Department. Police seized four ounces of processed marijuana that was ready for consumption, scales, packaging bags, and nine plants ranging in size from seedlings to 2 feet tall.

Police also took a .22-caliber rifle and a .40-caliber pistol found near the processed marijuana. The presence of the weapons increased the severity of the charges, as the MDEA accused Devlin of using them to protect illegal property.

Devlin was initially held on $10,000 cash bail at the Oxford County Jail. He made bail Monday after the bail was reduced to $260 in South Paris District Court. He was ordered not to use or possess illegal drugs.
