Becoming a Lewiston firefighter won’t be as easy as it has been in the past, if the city adopts tighter physical agility tests proposed by Fire Chief Sherman Lahaie Jr.

For physical stamina and agility, the proposed test would require prospective firefighters to run 1½ miles within 12 minutes; to do 25 sit-ups in 90 seconds; to do five chin-ups and 10 pushups; and to carry a 125-pound weight 100 feet.
