TOGUS – William L. Creamer, 86, a resident of Sawyer Road in Greene, died Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Veterans Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past seven days.
He was born July 22, 1921, in Brockton, Mass., the son of Clarence and Sylvia (Odiorne) Creamer. He attended Edward Little High School in Auburn. He served in the U.S. Army in Company K-119th Infantry from July 3, l944 through April 13, 1946 during World War II., serving in the African and European Theatre. During his time in the military, he had been a POW in Germany.
On Sept. 10, 1948, he married Geraldine Bubier of Greene. He worked as a self-employed businessman, owning and operating a gas station, starting two oil companies, and opened Greene Hardware, and he also worked as a carpenter.
He was a member of Grange No. 8 for many years in Greene; the Monmouth Masonic Lodge No. 110 for 57 years, V.F.W. Post No. 1603 in Auburn; V.F.W. Post No. 11032 in Greene; and the American Legion Post No. 0031 in Auburn.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Geraldine of Greene; three daughters and their husbands, Sheila and Alan Wood of Greene, Sherrie and Peter Higgins of Greene and Sonia and Matthew Higgins of Greene; a son, Steve Creamer and his wife, Nanette, of Greene; five granddaughters; four grandsons; two great-granddaughters; six great-grandsons; a brother, Don Pinson of Colorado; special friends, Joe and Shirley Beaudoin of Greene; and special care from his sister-in-law, Sandra Bubier also of Greene.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Everett Creamer and Richard Pinson; a sister, Edwina Wright; and his grandson, Ross C. Wood.
The family would like to thank the Veterans Hospital in Togus for the care he received.
