BETHEL – Dirigo escaped with a 1-0 win over Telstar on Saturday after a long boot from the side of the field deflected into the goal past Telstar keeper Dan Vaughn off of one of Vaughn’s own defenders.

Dirigo’s Colby Knapp received credit for the Telstar own-goal, which came in the second half. Vaughn played very well, and even managed to get a finger on the ball as it passed him. He made 14 saves in the loss.

Dirigo keeper Archie Ray stopped two shots to earn the win.

Buckfield 7, Highview Christian 1

BUCKFIELD – John Condon scored five goals as Buckfield coasted to a 7-1 triumph over Highview Christian.

Aaron Dewitt and Chad Allen also scored for the Bucks. Cy Wilkinson chipped in with three assists. Devan Sargent scored in the first half for Highview.

Nathan Corson made three saves for Buckfield.

Mt. Abram, Liv. Falls tie

SALEM – Senior goalie Marcus Ryder was the playmaker of the game for Livermore Falls as the Andies battled Mt. Abram to a 0-0 double overtime finale in MVC boys’ soccer action Saturday.

With 18 shots on goal, Ryder faced more than double the shots than his counterpart had to deal with, making 15 saves to prevent a defeat. Some of his prevents came in acrobatic form. Senior striker Zach Keen evened up the contest at 1-1 in the second half for the Andies (7-3-2).

The Roadrunners (9-2-1) put the first tally on the board with a goal from senior midfielder Tucker Landers. Goalie Sam Simpson made four saves on eight shots for Livermore Falls.

Lisbon 5, Mtn. Valley 1

RUMFORD – Senior strikers Marcus and Cam Bubar piloted a pair of goals each to lift Lisbon to a 5-1 victory over Mountain Valley in a wet MVC soccer matchup in Rumford on Saturday.

The Greyhounds (12-2) jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead on Bubar’s four tallies.

Goalie Bryan Canwell repelled 16 shots for the Falcons (3-11), while Mike Call turned away three shots to earn the win in net for Lisbon.
