New Beginnings fundraising race/walk
LEWISTON – New Beginnings will hold its fourth annual 5K race/walk on Sunday, Oct. 14. The officially timed event will start and end at the Multi-Purpose Center, Birch Street.
All proceeds will benefit New Beginnings, a Lewiston-based nonprofit, which serves runaway and homeless youth with emergency shelter, transitional living and street outreach services.
Chris Ferguson of Lewiston and Dawne Havener of Turner are leading the race planning.
The run and walk will begin at 9 a.m., followed at 9:45 by a diaper race for children ages 1 to 6. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. The course is a moderately flat 3.1 miles for runners and one mile for walkers through downtown Lewiston. Registration is $15.
Four short races for children will include face-painting, prizes and mini-pumpkins for all participants. Entry fee for children is $5.
