PARIS – Oxford County Special Olympics will hold a meeting at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, in Room 20, Oxford Hills Middle School. The group is planning the annual bowling tournament and athletes’ harvest dance and banquet. Committees are also being reformed/updated for winter training, aquatics training and summer training.
The success of the events is dependent upon the thousands of hours of local community-based volunteer time given each season and the support of private and corporate sponsorships as well as assistance from the Special Olympics headquarters in South Portland. People can help in many ways, from becoming a Special Olympics volunteer, to supporting the program with donations of cash, in-kind services or products or sponsorship of an event.
Every person, group or company is welcomed to participate at their own pace.
