BATH – Edward James Ramsey, 80, of Lisbon Falls went to be with the Lord on Oct. 6. He resided at the Winship Green Nursing Home in Bath for his final days.
He was born in Brunswick, Nov. 17, 1926, to the late Howard and Bertha Ramsey, and then later was raised by his mother and stepfather, James Knight. He attended Durham schools and signed up for the duration of the war and served for both the Army and Navy until an injury sent him home.
He was a member of the DAV and also the American Legion Post 158 in Lisbon.
On Sept. 12, 1953, he married the love of his life, Aline St. Pierre, and they were happily married for 45 years, until she passed away in 1998.
Edward was an avid fan of western and bluegrass music. His favorite pastimes were taking rides in the country, drawing cartoons, telling jokes and most of all having coffee with the gang at the Settlement Restaurant.
Some of his places of employment were the Gypsum Mill in Lisbon Falls, a night watchman for Bowdoin College and John Crafts in Lisbon Falls.
Survivors include his four daughters, Marguerite “Peggy” Conklin and her companion, Walter Swan, of Lewiston, Judith Ramsey of Lisbon, Donna Lamothe of Lisbon and Debra Baril of Lisbon; eight grandchildren, Dawn and husband, Nick Yeitrakis, Calvin and wife, Carrie Turcotte, Tim Ramsey, Ricky, Joey and Heidi Lamothe, Chad and wife, Sarah Ramsey and Kendra Baril; six great-great-grandchildren, Kyle Yeitrakis, Triston and Ava Turcotte, Jordan Lamothe, Dominic Lamothe and Stephen Ramsey; and many nieces; nephews; and cousins.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Henry, Delmar and Howard Ramsey; and one sister, Ella Daniel.
He will be sadly missed.
