LEWISTON – One champion has been crowned in the Lewiston Rec Fall Tennis League. Several more will be during the next two weeks.

Alex Chicoine captured the B-2 Singles Championship Sunday, never losing a set in compiling a 7-0 record. Jim Rancourt was runner-up.

In the B-1 Division, the semifinals are set for this week with the #1 seed Tom LeBlond facing Reynold Villedrouin. In the other semifinal match, the #2 seed, Mike Lacombe, will meet Roger Grondin.

Two players are undefeated in Men’s A. Ron Chicoine and Tim Lacombe have started their match and will continue this week. They are even with each player winning a set.

In Women’s A, Lisa Laliberte remains unbeaten with one match left. She will face Elaine Dube. Should Laliberte prevail, she will become the champion.

In Women’s B, #1 seed Julie Dionne will meet Lisa Lally and the winner will clash with the #2 seed, Jill Begin, who defeated Iwona Cwik in the semifinals.

#1 seed Maria Higgins will play the winner of Kristie Small-Lucie Gilbert in Women’s C. The #2 seed, Venise Wilding, will play Sherri Vallee who defeated Connie Burke in the other semifinal match. The winners will battle for the championship.

With two weeks remaining in Mixed Doubles, the team of Alice Mogensen-Mark Mogensen are undefeated with Abby Blaisdell-Alex Chicoine, and Julie Dionne-Mike Lacombe closing in with each having one loss.
