As the new school year comes, some new teachers come with it. Some teachers move into different positions, other teachers come to us from other schools. At Philip W. Sugg Middle School in Lisbon we have many new teachers. Our librarian, Mrs. Kirsten Funderburk Freitag, is joining us from Lisbon Community School. Mrs. Freitag was the assistant librarian for two years at LCS. According to Mrs. Freitag, “Everyone has a reason why they choose their profession. I love working with kids, and I love reading and history.” With these combined passions, Mrs. Freitag set her sights on becoming a librarian.

Her goals for this year are teaching students “to know the differences in books and know where to find information.” She also wants students not to be afraid to ask questions about books or where to find a different genre of books. The library will be getting a number of new fiction and biography books this year to assist students with projects throughout the year. “I love PWS and the students are great,” comments Mrs. Freitag. “If you have any questions about books, please come see me. There is also a wonderful website students can access at www.teacherweb.com/ME/PWS/Library,” shares Mrs. Freitag.
