LEWISTON – The Discovery School opened its doors at the New Life Community Center, 134 College St., on Sept. 10.
The future of the school was in question throughout the summer as everyone searched for an appropriate and affordable location.
After hearing word from the New Life Ministry board of directors, the community came together and in two weeks turned the under-used space into an environment where students were excited to begin their adventures in learning.
In addition to a space to call their own, students at the Discovery School have easy access to other resources in the New Life Community Center, including the Toy Library’s play space, gym, stage and kitchen.
The space also has advantages due to its central location. From the school, many community resources can be easily accessed via bus or foot.
The school is a private kindergarten through grade 12 learning community. Students are empowered to be active participants in their community and their education. The school is accepting registrations for students ages 5 to 13 and is always looking for volunteers who are interested in sharing their talents and interests with students.
