Patty Lovell, manager of the Franklin County Animal Shelter, and Ernie Scholl, owner of Everyday Music on Broadway in Farmington, emptied the shelter’s container that is left on the store’s counter Wednesday.

Scholl also added money raised from wrapping gifts during the Christmas season. He’s happy to wrap Christmas presents but requests a small donation for the animal shelter in return, he said. Donations added up to $135 then Scholl raised it himself to a $200 donation for the benefit of the animals that reside at the shelter. Businesses are very supportive of the containers left at area stores, Lovell said. The shelter still has a full house, she said, as there is always a list of owners waiting to surrender their pets.
