LISBON FALLS – Lisbon Library Department has announced the presentation of the Chewonki Foundation’s “Owls of Maine” program at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17.
The program is made possible through sponsorship of the Merrymeeting Chapter, National Audubon Society. Children in grades kindergarten through 12 are invited to go to the Children’s Room to learn about the owls native to Maine and New England, such as the barred owl, the great horned owl, and the screech or saw-whet owl.
A slide show will familiarize the children with the identifying characteristics and calls of owls. Then, using talons, wings and skulls, the adaptations of the nocturnal hunters will be explored. An intimate look at live owls will end the program.
To prevent “spooking” the owls, space is limited and preregistration is required. Call 353-6564 for more information or drop by the Lisbon Library at 28 Main St., Lisbon Falls. The program is free to patrons of the library.
