Waterford – Albert Heino, 82, of Waterford, passed away at his home on Thursday, Oct. 11.

He was the loving husband of 57 years to Theresa M. (Qualey) Heino. Born in Waterford on July 2, 1925, he was the son of the late Kalle and Liisa Heino. He attended school in Waterford, but had to leave early to work in the woods to help support his family.

In 1945, he served proudly in World War II in the U S. Army as a combat engineer in Europe. After his discharge, he returned to Maine to work in the woods and in area mills. Albert had fierce Finnish pride, always had a kind word for his fellow man and would not hesitate to help out friends and family alike. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, and in his later years “watching” his Red Sox on the radio.

He is survived by his wife; and children, Charles M. Heino and his wife, Linda, of Harrison, Catherine M. Pomerleau and her husband, David, of Buckfield, and Albert R. Heino and his wife, Cynde, of West Paris; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
