LEWISTON – David Henry Hamm Sr., 86, of Temple, died early Wednesday morning, Oct. 10, at the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
He was born May 21, 1921, in Hartford, Conn., a son of Peter and Ella (Johnson) Hamm.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, David served during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Card. His working career was spent at Electric Boat in Groton, Conn., where he worked with sheet metal for submarines.
He retired to Temple and has lived there for the last 25 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the North American Fishing Club and the N.R.A.
He is survived by his children, Roger Hamm and his wife, Janet, of Gloucester, R.I., Robert Hamm and his wife, Pam, of Wellsboro, Pa., David Hamm Jr. and his wife, Grace, of Rehoboth, Mass., Sandra Pelland and her husband, Ray, of Richlands, N.C., Dennis Hamm of Canon City, Colo., Duane Hamm and his wife, Mary, of Cumberland, R.I., Todd Hamm and his wife, Marie, of Norwich, Conn., and David D’Alessandro and his wife, Sharon, of Clemons, N.Y.; a sister, Clara Drinkwater of Boynton Beach, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
