Auburn – Doris Y. Marcotte, 71, a resident of Elm Street in Jay, died Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Androscoggin Hospice House surrounded by her family.
She was born on July 28, 1936, in Lewiston, the daughter of Phillippe and Yvonne (Belanger) Gagnon and attended Lewiston High School. On Oct. 19, 1957, she married Armand Marcotte at Holy Cross Church in Lewiston. In 1966, she and her husband moved to Jay and raised their family. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. Doris enjoyed traveling, movies, going out to eat and was an avid crafter.
She is survived by her husband Armand of Jay; three sons, Michael Marcotte and his wife, Joanne, of Auburn, Mass., Steven Marcotte and his companion, Theresa Mills, of Jay, and Kenneth Marcotte and his companion, Elisa Casey, of Clearwater, Fla.; a daughter, Ann Marie Cummings and her husband, Brian, of Bristol, Conn.; six grandchildren, Steven, Caresse and Joseph Marcotte, and Melissa, Cristopher and Ashley Cummings; brothers, Fern Gagnon and his wife, Vivian, of Newpulse, N.Y., and Roger Gagnon and his wife, Yvette, of South Portland; a sister, Cecile Cyr and her husband, Rodrigue, of Lewiston; brothers-in-law, Emile Caron of Lewiston, Ray Marcotte and his wife, Vera, of Lewiston, Leonard Marcotte and his wife, Rolande, of Orrs Island, and Randy Schenk and his wife, Anita, of Lewiston; sisters-in-law, Cecilia Gagnon of Lewiston and Rose Marcotte of Auburn; a special niece, Claudette Caron of Lewiston, who was like a sister to her; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Adrien and Larry Gagnon; and two sisters, Lida Caron and Loretta Gagnon.
