Rangeley Plantation – Irma H. Hill, 84, formerly of Oxford, passed away on Oct. 11, at the home of her daughter, following a long illness.
She was born April 6, 1923, to Irville A. and Susan (Barrows) Armstrong in Memoramcook, New Brunswick, Canada.
In 1928, her family moved to South Lancaster, Mass., where she received her education. She graduated from South Lancaster Academy and attended Atlantic Union College. She was married to Paul L. Hill on Aug. 15, 1942, in Boylston, Mass. The couple lived for many years in Worcester and Auburn, Mass., where they raised their three children. She took an active role in youth groups such as Cubs Scouts and Pathfinders.
Irma was manager of Sydenstricker Galleries in Brewster, Mass. and Lake Worth, Fla., over a 16-year period.
Her love for New England brought her back to Maine, where she enjoyed living by her beloved lake in Oxford. She then managed the gift shop at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston until her retirement.
She was a lifelong craft enthusiast, an avid reader and lover of animals and all nature.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol and her husband, Roy Henrickson, of Rangeley Plantation; son Theodore of North Oxford, Mass., and son, David of Yarmouthport, Mass.; five grandchildren, Julie Bergeron and husband, Cliff, of Oxford, Eric Henrickson of Morgantown, W.Va., Nicole Finne and husband, Jason, of Ware, Mass., Scott Hill and wife, Liz, of Worcester, Mass., and Jamie Hill of Millbury, Mass.; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Ethel Lloyd and Genevieve Sutphin.
