NORWAY – Construction of a 14,700-square-foot Walgreens pharmacy is set to begin next month.

“We’re starting in November” confirmed David LaTulippe of the Richmond Co., a Massachusetts-based, real-estate-development company.

LaTulippe said Wednesday that plans call for starting razing three buildings the company purchased on Paris and Fair streets during the first week of November to make way for the 60-plus parking spaces and retail store. He expects the project to be completed in about six months.

Planning Board Chairman Dennis Gray said the site plan approval is complete but the Richmond Co. still needs a building permit issued.

The plan calls for construction of a Walgreens pharmacy on 1.28 acres of land behind the Dead River gas station. Efforts to negotiate an agreement with the Dead River Co. on Route 26, the only building that would block the pharmacy’s street frontage, have been unsuccessful so far, according to officials.

LaTulippe said changes will be made to the adjacent Tim Hortons entrance to improve traffic flow by widening the entrance, adding a left turn and doing some curb cuts.
