PORTLAND – Yolande P. Corb, 82, formerly of Scarborough, died Thursday, Oct. 11, after a brief illness at St. Joseph’s Manor in Portland.

Born July 30, 1925, in Auburn, she was the daughter of Leo Poisson and Cora Boisvert. After graduating from Walton Junior High School in 1941, she assumed the role of family caregiver following the early and unexpected death of her mother.

Yolande enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps in August 1945 to become a nurse and was given an honorable discharge in September 1945 when WACs were no longer needed after the end of World War II.

She married Marc Corb (Marcel Carbonneau) in July 1946, and followed his career in the U.S. Army. Loving wife and mother of three children, she volunteered her time for the Boy Scouts of America, the Scarborough PTA and Little League Baseball.

Surviving are two sons, Bruce Corb of Massachusetts, and Cliff Corb of Gray; one daughter, Debra Martin of Windham; two brothers, Robert Poisson of Lewiston, and Dorien Poisson of Tennessee; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
