AUBURN -Jocelyn Lahey scored a pair of goals off penalty corners to lead Edward Little to a 2-0 victory over Bangor in the Eastern Class A field hockey preliminary-round playoff game Saturday.
After a scoreless first half, Lahey converted a feed from Karen Leary and Ally Butler for the game’s first goal. Later on a penalty corner from the other wing, Miranda Martin knocked the ball to Leary at the top of the circle. She sent it toward the net, and Lahey finished it off for a 2-0 lead.
Kayla Cummings played a strong game in goal, stopping all 12 shots by Bangor (5-9-1). Hilary Rabin made six saves for the Rams.
EL (8-6-1) will face Gardiner in the quarterfinals Tuesday.
Telstar 2, Jay 1
FARMINGTON – Chelsea Bean and Jessie Reiss scored in the first half to lift Telstar to a 2-1 victory over Jay in the MVC championship game.
Bri Beisaw scored for Jay in the second half. Brianna Douglass made four saves for Telstar, while Brenda Allen made five stops for Jay.
Holderness 1, Hebron 0
HOLDERNESS, N.H. – Kelly Hood recorded the only goal to give Holderness a 1-0 win over Hebron.
Goalie Meghan Munro made 13 saves for the Lumberjacks.
