Virginia Beach, Va. – Pauline Thelma Smith, 68, passed away peacefully Oct. 12, in her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Pauline was born Feb. 12, 1939, to the late Albert and Yvonne Demers in Lewiston. Pauline was a loving mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family, and was a successful real estate entrepreneur.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Diane Newell and Eileen Pollard; sons-in-law, Gary Newell and Robert Pollard Sr; grandchildren, Amber Newell and Robert Pollard Jr. and his wife, Kimberly; and sisters, Irene Deditch, and Theresa Demers of California. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews and their families.

She is preceded in death by her siblings, Albert (Jr.), Bob, Murial, Jackie, Lionel and Richard.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Pauline’s caregivers, Home Health Aid Mary and Nurse Maggie of Sentara Hospice Care, for providing loving care above the call of duty during her last days.
