Harvest supper

BETHEL – A harvest supper will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Alder River Grange in East Bethel to benefit the grange. Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children under 13.

Grange supper

MINOT – A harvest supper will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the West Minot Grange, Routes 119 and 124. Menu will include corned beef, vegetables, bread, gingerbread and beverage. Cost is $7 for adults and $2 for children.

Flea market

WEST PARIS – A flea market and craft sale will be held beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the West Paris Grange Hall, Church Street. A luncheon with corn chowder, sandwiches and hot or cold beverages will be available. Table rental is $5. It will be held rain or shine. For more information or to rent a table, call 674-3241.

Book sale

WEST PARIS – Friends of the West Paris Library will hold the annual buck-a-bag sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the library on Main Street. Buy a grocery-size bag for a dollar and fill it with books. The sale will be held rain or shine. Proceeds will benefit the library and its programs and projects, including the expansion plans, which are under way.

Meeting change

PARIS – The First Congregational Church of South Paris will be the meeting place of the Oxford County Retired Educators at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, followed by a business meeting at 11 a.m. and dinner at noon. Superintendent Rick Colpitts will speak from 1 to 2 p.m. about consolidation plans and problems. For more information, call 743-7677.

Grange dance

WATERFORD – The Waterford Grange 479 will hold a dance as part of its fundraiser for a new fire escape.

The Richard Felt Band will play from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the grange, Valley Road.

Donations will be $7 a person.

Door prizes and 50/50 will be available as will cake, coffee, punch and fudge. For more information, contact Barbara Sanborn at 583-4015.

Church auction

SUMNER – The West Sumner Universalist Church will hold a silent auction at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. The auction will begin at 1 p.m. at Buckfield High School.

There are more than 200 items, from baskets filled with goodies, to gift certificates, appliances, toys and clothing.

Also there will be a dollar table, including cash prizes, autographed Red Sox baseball and golfer’s dream package. There will be a Memory Wall, with items donated in memory of individuals from the community. Cemetery meeting

OTISFIELD – The Elmwood Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. The meeting will be held at the East Otisfield Free Baptist Church on Rayville Road.

Heritage society

WEST PARIS – The Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21. Following a brief business meeting, Margo Miller of Mollyocket Meadow Fiber Studio will do a demonstration. A coffee social will follow. The public is welcome.

Church service

PARIS – Trinity Lutheran Church, 23 Buckfield Road, South Paris, invites all to worship on Sunday, Oct. 21. Sunday school will start at 9 a.m.; service at 10:15 a.m., followed by coffee, refreshments and fellowship.
