LEWISTON – The Rev. Bob Vaillancourt will lead a retreat focused on centering one’s personal and family life in the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus from 7 p.m. Friday to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19 to 21, at Holy Cross Church, 1080 Lisbon St.
There will be celebration of Mass, teachings on the Eucharist, Taize praise and song, as well as 40 hours of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
Attendees may participate in any or all sessions and everyone is welcome.
A highlight of the retreat will be a Taize service at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. It is named after the ecumenical community founded by Brother Roger in Taize, France, in the 1940s.
Today the Taize community is made up of more than 100 brothers, Catholic and Protestant alike, coming from more than 25 nations. Through the use of candles and an atmosphere of reverence, participants use praise and song, enter into a deeper communion and reconciliation with God and one another.
Vaillancourt, a native of Lewiston, recently celebrated his 25th anniversary of the priesthood. He is pastor of St. Teresa in Brewer, St. Matthew in Hampden and St. Gabriel in Winterport.
No registration is required and there will be a free will offering. For more information or to sign up for an hour of adoration, contact Pam Rousseau at 786-8081 or Ron Carrier at 754-5065.
