LEWISTON – Central Maine Medical Center will host the Women’s and Men’s Health Expo, an event for adults of all ages, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20.

The free daylong event will be held in the 60 High Street lobby at CMMC and will feature speakers and demonstrations on a variety of topics, as well as product and service displays and health screenings.

Parking will be provided free in the CMMC High Street parking garage and parking lots, located across the street from the 60 High Street entrance.

The speakers program will include the following:

9 a.m.: “Stroke Reduction: Carotid Artery Health,” Dr. Allan Ingraham, vascular surgeon; “Maintain Your Brain: Memory Issues,” Liz Weaver.

10:15 a.m.: “Eating and Cooking for Good Health,” Ashley Whalen; “Breast Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment: New Directions,” Dr. Gregory D’Augustine, general surgeon.

11:30 a.m.: “Making Your Wealth Work for You in Today’s Market,” Smith Barney; “Hot Topics in Plastic Surgery: Facts, Myths and How to Look and Feel Your Best,” Dr. Steven Bonawitz, plastic surgeon.

1 p.m.: “Integrative Medicine,” Dr. Erica Lovett, family physician; “Effective, Easy Ways to Deal with Everyday Stress,” Valerie St. Clair, RN.

2:15 p.m.: “The Skinny on Healthy Eating,” registered dietitian Corinne Carrier; “New Advances in Contraception,” nurse practitioner Barbara Gervais and obstetrician-gynecologist Dr. Michael Ting.

Demonstrations will include:

9 a.m.: “Finding Ease with Yoga,” certified yoga instructor Marcy Covey.

10:15 a.m.: “Tai Chi,” Betsy Foster.

11:30 a.m.: “Zumba,” Cynthia Nicholas.

The following health screenings will be offered: ankle brachial index, blood pressure, balance, body composition, cholesterol, EKG, hearing, osteoporosis, pulmonary, prostate (preregistration required; call 795-2442), Scorekeeper Health Risk Assessment Skin, varicose veins, vision.

A GPS unit will be given away through a drawing from those who register for the event. Refreshments and various give-aways will also be provided. Broadcasting from the event will be Lori Voornas from the Q Morning Show and Sandra Harris from WHOM-FM.
