FALMOUTH – The Forecaster, which publishes four community weekly newspapers in the greater Portland and Mid-Coast regions, today announced it will start a new edition covering the Lewiston-Auburn area.

The L-A Forecaster will debut Wednesday, Nov. 14. It will cover community news and sports in Lewiston and Auburn, and join the four existing editions of The Forecaster that cover news of Portland, its nine northern and southern suburbs, and the Mid-Coast region of Brunswick, Bath, Topsham and Harpswell.

The L-A Forecaster will be free and available at more than 200 locations in Lewiston and Auburn.

“We are excited to be able to add to the coverage in the Lewiston-Auburn area,” said David Costello, president of The Forecaster. “We think that the area can benefit from the unique brand of coverage of events that The Forecaster has become known for in Southern and Mid-Coast Maine.”

Since its founding as the Falmouth Forecaster in 1986, the newspaper has been known for its unique coverage of local news and sports, including town governments, schools and education issues, as well as its signature Police Beat and extensive local calendar listings. All of these features and more will be included in the new L-A edition.

Karen Rajotte, publisher of The Forecaster, said, “We are thrilled to welcome the next generation of Forecaster – the L-A Forecaster. Local news is the heart of any community and the L-A area is no exception. Local news, local sports, local advertising – that’s what The Forecaster does best.”

In the coming weeks, reporters and sales representatives from The Forecaster will be contacting community officials and business owners in the L-A area to outline plans for the new edition and provide advertising information.

The L-A Forecaster staff will consist of:

• Holly Rahmlow, news coordinator and copy editor, [email protected] , 800-482-0759, ext. 3589 or 207-689-2829
