LIVERMORE FALLS – Sewall Street is scheduled to be paved with 2-inch binder Thursday. Grinding and preparation work will be done prior to that, select board Chairwoman Jackie Knight said Tuesday.

The road was dug up over the summer to install new water lines. Selectmen considered redoing the sewer line on that road but changed their minds after funds grew tight and an inspection showed that the line appeared to be in good shape.

Bruce A. Manzer of Anson is the paving contractor. He had a contract deadline to meet for a project and had to pull out of Livermore Falls to complete it, Town Manager Martin Puckett said previously.

Knight said selectmen met in an executive session regarding tax-increment financing Monday but no action was taken after the session.

Three applications have been received, Knight said, for the highway foreman job vacated by Denis Castonguay, who is now director of public works in Farmington.

Applications are due Friday, Oct. 19.

Rodney Lake is the interim supervisor.

Puckett is putting together a search committee to review applications, Knight said.

The board plans to hold a public hearing at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 5, at the town office on a junkyard application for Greene’s Auto on Park Street and for an existing junkyard on Campground Road submitted by Bonnie Castonguay, Knight said.

A public hearing will also be held on new state general assistance maximums, she added.

Selectmen also directed Puckett to look into residents’ complaints of debris left after water and sewer line replacement projects were completed on several streets.

Puckett was also asked to look into why there are so many tax abatements and incorrect assessments on property.
