LEWISTON – Verna L. Abbott, 85, passed away peacefully at d’Youville Pavilion on Oct. 15, with family by her side.
She was born in Durham on April 6, 1922, the daughter of Ernest Williams and Verna Houston Williams. She was married to Cecil E. Abbott, the most wonderful man and they shared four children.
Cecil E. Abbott of who passed on now is waiting for his beloved on the other side. Soon the twinkle in the sky will brighten again when she arrives.
She was a born-again Christian. She worked mostly in Lewiston and Auburn in the shoe factories and then raised her children in Auburn. She retired to Mount Vernon in the camp where she and her husband found peace and quiet on the mountains.
She is survived by her son, Larry Abbott and his wife, Paula, of Lewiston; son, Ernest Abbott of Fairfield; sister, Lucille Rallidies and husband, Bill, of Falmouth; grandchildren, Pat and husband, Bruce Garnett, of Sabattus, Robert Abbott and wife, Sylvia, of Connecticut, Tammy Paige of Auburn, Tina and her husband, Troy Sibley, of Poland, Sheri Johnson of Lewiston, Paul Abbott and Ernest Abbott Jr.; many great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Cecil E. Abbott; sons, Cecil E. Abbott Jr. and Robert L. Abbott Sr.; and a grandson, Keith Abbott.
