Where has all the common sense gone with the police, be it county sheriff, state or local? The lack of common sense doesn’t seem to belong to any certain county. Is it the state-mandated, standard operating procedure for police to tear apart somebody’s house, all in the name of justice?
Norman Thompson is a thief and a habitual offender. Police didn’t need to wreck his mother’s house.
But this has happened before.
Common sense tells me maybe the mother could have talked Thompson out, if she was given the chance. And his mother had asked for help for him before the standoff in Mexico happened.
It is one thing if the police had been fired upon, but this was not the case. Maybe police in Maine could take a lesson from New Hampshire police. There was a recent incident where they got their man, without firing a shot.
There is also some blame to be placed on the justice system in Androscoggin County for letting Thompson go.
