I recently about the field of dreams needing to be torn down (Aug. 30). The article stated David Lowe made this 18,000-square-foot field on a prominent ridge so he could practice with his son. Mr. Lowe added he wanted this field because he wanted to be able to practice with the team. He was not able to make the scheduled team practices after school. The article also said neighbors in the multimillion-dollar housing development below the ridge are comparing the field to a “Guantanamo prison” because of the 14-foot fence. It also stated the field needed a permit, but the permit was denied by the Danville Planning Commissioners.
This is wrong. The article states Lowe was willing to lower the fence. He put a lot of work and money into this field and he should be given a second chance. I think if Lowe hadn’t offered to work this out, I might agree, but he is offering to change things to make it more comfortable for the neighbors.
The suggestion Lowe gave was very good. Now since some don’t agree, what about something like this: It is stated that the neighbors are multimillionaires I think they should be able to put something in front of their house to block the field. As far as the permit goes, I think if the neighbors would be able to work it out, than the Danville commissioners should rethink their votes.
