I recently read about how an Iowa county was, but now is not, accepting applications for gay marriages. (Sept. 1) I was surprised to see one couple made the cut and were married as a gay couple. I am happy to see two men that love each other and wish to be life partners married outside of only Massachusetts.

I am not gay, my parents aren’t gay, my close family members aren’t gay, nor do I have friends that are gay. However, I believe people should marry whom they love. Some people say a man should marry a woman, and a woman should marry a man, even if they are in love with someone of their same sex.

I don’t know why some people care about who other people love. It doesn’t affect them. Nobody’s forcing them to get with somebody of their own sex. If they don’t like it, ignore it. You may know somebody who is gay, and not even know they are gay. Does this mean you stop being friends with them, or you stop talking to them?

I don’t think so.

So why does the county reject gay marriage applications? Because one group of people doesn’t accept those lifestyles? It’s not right any county would change their laws for one group.

People should marry who they love, man or woman. After all it is a free country.

Why can’t we be free to marry who they love?
