Farmington – Delcy Jean Frost Rogers, 39, of Dallas Plantation, went to be with her Lord and savior on Oct. 18, surrounded by her family after an eight-year battle with colon cancer at Franklin Memorial Hospital, in Farmington.

She was born Aug. 20, 1968, a daughter of Dennis and Rita (Wilson) Frost in Farmington. Her family moved to Rangeley when she was only a couple of weeks old and she lived in the area her entire life. On June 30, 1990, she married her husband Steven Rogers. Together, they had a beautiful daughter, Billie, in February of 1999.

Delcy attended school at Rangeley Lakes Regional School, graduating in 1986. After graduation, she attended USM for one year. She received her associate degree in accounting and small business management from UMA in 1999. She was nine credits shy of getting her bachelor’s degree when she was diagnosed with colon cancer.

Delcy loved to spend time with her family, garden, do crafts and puzzles, and camp. She was a member of the Rangeley Free Baptist Church, Rangeley PTA, and a Girl Scout leader. She was very proud of her nieces and daughter, and her daughter was her best accomplishment. She loved being a mother and wife. She was voted “Most Likely to Succeed” in high school, and in her eyes she was the most successful because of her long marriage and her daughter.

She was so thankful for her husband’s loving family. His mother came up to take care of her whenever she needed her, since she was first diagnosed. She loved them all as much as her own. She was also very thankful that she found the Lord. He helped her through her illness and she was not afraid of dying. Her only regret was leaving her family, especially her daughter. She was very sad to know that she would not be here to witness most of Billie’s firsts.

She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Steven; daughter, Billie; father and stepmother, Dennis and Carol Frost; mother and stepfather, Rita and Jim Simpson; sisters and brother-in-laws, Dawn and Johnny Field and Patricia and Jamie Ellis; nieces, Alicia and Justine Frost-Kolva, all of Rangeley; her self-adopted brother, Doug Cooke of Rangeley; her paternal grandmother, Thelma Frost of Wilton; in-laws, Paul and Rebecca Dumont of Wells; sister-in-law and brother-in-laws, Heidi Aube, Dustin Dumont, Martin Rogers and Brian Birkenbine; She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Matt and Irma Wilson and Louise Wilson; her paternal grandfather, Cecile Frost; uncle, Tarzy Toothaker; cousin, Gil Frost; brother-in-law, Brian Dumont; and grandparents-in-law who she loved as her own, Bill and Rueberta Goodwin.

Delcy would like for everyone to know of the blessings of God’s love, mercy, peace and grace she experienced during her illness. She would also like to encourage everyone to eat healthy, exercise, get check-ups, and to generally take good care of yourself. If you are a parent, don’t just do this for yourself, do it for your children.

Delcy’s family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Health Care and Hospice, the Third Floor Nurses Station at Franklin Memorial Hospital, and the Oncology Department at Franklin Memorial Hospital for their care, comfort and concern.
