KINGFIELD – Margaret Winter, 76, of Kingfield died Sunday, Oct. 21, at her home.
She was born April 12, 1931, in Kingfield the daughter of Niilo and Lempi (Wvori) Niemi. She was educated in the schools of Kingfield graduating from Kingfield High in 1949.
On Nov. 6, 1954, she married John Winter who passed away Dec. 2, 2006. She was a member of the Norton Wuori Post 61 Auxiliary and the Somerset Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She volunteered her time at the Stanley Museum and the Kingfield Historical Society. She enjoyed cooking for her family and various hunting camps, knitting, needle point, sewing and gardening. She also enjoyed supervising John at the camp on Hancock Pond. She spent many special hours with “the girls” at Longfellows. Her family was the focus of her life, they will miss her guidance, common sense and blunt truthfulness.
She is survived by her mother; two daughters, Tanya Wilber and her companion, Casper Haines, of Salem and Shelby Banks and her husband, Jack, of Kingfield; two granddaughters, Deanna Haines and her husband, Garold, of Avon and Darcy Wilber and her companion, Niilo Sillanpaa III; and two great-grandchildren, Caleb Haines and Taegan Heath.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years; two daughters, Cheryl and Pamela Winter; two brothers; Robert and Lawrence; and her father.
