The St. Dominic RHS golf team remained undefeated all season to take home the state championship on October 6th, 2007 at Natanis Golf Club in Vassalboro. The team’s nine golfers beat 12 other teams, winning the state title by 48 strokes. Nick Levesque led the team with a score of 77, followed by Charles Bergeron and Richard Paradis who both hit 80. “I feel that our season was extremely successful,” said Greg LaBonte, a junior. “Our coach really made us work hard on the little things to improve our game, and it paid off in the end. Practicing at Foxridge, which is one of the best courses in Maine, also helped us as a team to improve our game.”
Richard Paradis, one of the team’s strongest golfers, qualified to represent the St. Dom’s team in the individual state championship on October 13th. He placed 9th out of the 30 best individual golfers in the state. “Hopefully we can do it again next year,” said Paradis. “We’re only losing one senior.” The eight returning golfers are sure to remain tough competition for next year’s season.
