AUBURN – Two Auburn men were arrested early Wednesday after police interrupted an alleged break-in at Best Buy on Turner Street.
Police said they were responding to a burglary alarm at the electronics store just after midnight when they caught the suspects sneaking out of the building.
Brian Joseph Paladino, 31, of 40 High St., was arrested on charges of criminal mischief and theft by unauthorized taking.
Clifton Robert Wallace, 30, of 64 Elm St., was charged with burglary, theft by unauthorized taking, criminal mischief and failure to give police a correct name.
He was later charged with trafficking in prison contraband.
Police said the men were trying to make off with $8,500 worth of goods when they were caught. All the items have been recovered.
Paladino and Wallace were being held at the Androscoggin County Jail on Wednesday night on $5,000 cash bail each.
