Dear Sun Spots: I read your column every day and enjoy it very much. It is most helpful to many people.

I am hoping you will be able to help my bowling league. We are in need of women who would like to bowl on a league at Sparetime Recreation Center in Lewiston on Thursdays from 9 to about 11:30 a.m. or noon.

This league is a lot of fun and a chance to meet women and to get some exercise at the same time. Anyone who would like to bowl, please call Shirley Jordan at 946-7679 or Rita Cyr at 782-3057. – Shirley and Rita, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: I’m a steady reader and love the letters you get.

I crochet head-hugging hats as a pastime. Everyone is in a different color combination, or plain. None are alike, and they look great on both guys or gals. I don’t know where to go to sell these. I have thought of renting a table at a Christmas fair, but I was told I needed a permit number from the state. I’m too small a seller for that. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I may be reached at 784-9784. – No Name, No Town.

Answer:
In addition to responses from readers, Sun Spots talked with Daryl at the Maine Revenue Services who confirms this is so. Anyone selling continuously, needs to register with the state and apply for a seller’s registration number. The process is easy and can be done online at www.maine.gov/revenue/salesuse/homepage.html or by calling 624-9693 and press 3 to speak with an officer.

In talking with Daryl, Sun Spots learned that the renter of the retail space has to report the numbers to the state also. So whomever is renting you the space is also keeping track of those numbers to submit to the state.

Dear Sun Spots: You are a blessing to the community. Now, I need your help.

Television warns us of peripheral artery disease (PAD) but clothing manufacturers are stocking the stores with elasticized socks which leave a circulation-stopping gouge around the leg.

Can you please tell me where I might find a nonelastic sock of appropriate weight for wear with everyday winter footwear or boots? Thank you. – No Name, No Town.

Answer: Sun Spots wonders if you’ve checked with Bedard Medical Equipment & Supplies, 1125 Lisbon St., Lewiston, 784-3700 or Black Bear Medical, 275 Marginal Way, Portland, 871-0008, or toll free at 800-577-1365?

In addition, you might also check out www.healthylegs.com, 888-495-0105 which lists several pairs that might be just what you are seeking.
