NORWAY – Robert E. Kane, 82, of Otisfield, died Friday, Oct. 26, at Stephens Memorial Hospital with his loving family at his side.
He was born in Oxford on Sept. 2, 1925, the son of Robert M. and Marguerite (Quinn) Kane. He was a graduate of Oxford High School.
He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
He married the former Barbara M. Bean of Otisfield. They were happily married for 59 years.
Bob had worked for Robinson Manufacturing for many years as head of the dressing department. Along with his wife, he owned and operated Mountain View Realty. He served the town of Otisfield on the finance committee and the appeals board.
He enjoyed farming 80 scenic acres of land on Peaco Hill and took great pride in the care of their wild blueberry fields. He found great pleasure in the time he spent at camp on Crooked River with his grandchildren.
He is survived by a son, Peter L. Kane and wife, Susan, of Waterford and Florida; two daughters, Cyndy Kane and husband, Chris Olson, of Bethel and Patricia K. and husband, Wayne Sturdivant, of Otisfield; brothers, Thomas Kane of Sanford and Gary Kane of Ansonia, Conn.; sister-in-law, Bee Merrill of Oxford; special daughter-in-law, Betty Kane of Otisfield; grandchildren, Bridget Gorton, Brydie Kane, Hannah and Hilary Sturdivant, Kane and Karl Olson; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Wilson, Christopher Gorton, Tyler, Allyson and Spencer Moore.
He was predeceased by his parents; and siblings, James Kane, Eleanor Plummer and Michael Kane.
