AUBURN – Benoit N. Letendre, 75, of 6 Tucker St., Lewiston, died Friday, Oct. 26, at the Hospice House in Auburn.
Born in Auburn on Nov. 20, 1931, he was the son of Ernest and Rose Anna Beaupre Letendre. Educated in local schools, he graduated from Bates College in 1954, and then served in the United States Army for two years. On April 20, 1974, he was married to the former Jacqueline Boucher. He was employed for over 25 years as a social worker in adult protective services by the Maine State Department of Human Services, retiring in 1991.
A communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, he also belonged to the American Legion, the Elk’s Club, the Maine State Employees Association, and the Maine Association of Retirees. A big sports fan, Ben enjoyed watching all different types of sports and also enjoyed computers.
Survivors include his loving wife of 33 years, Jacqueline of Lewiston; four sisters, Marguerite Violette of Lewiston, Therese and husband, Omer Canuel, of Lewiston, Rita Caron of Westbrook and Beatrice and husband, Normand LeComte, of Lewiston.
He was predeceased by a brother Alfred, who passed away in 1994.
