DIXFIELD – The Oxford County Democrats have announced plans for a spaghetti supper on Friday, Nov. 2, at the American Legion Hall, Route 2.

Congressman Tom Allen and District 93 House of Representatives candidate Sheryl Briggs will be the guests of honor, said County Democratic Chairwoman Cathy Newell, who said many elected officials and additional guests are expected to attend.

Tickets will be available at the door, with the price for the meal set at $5. The supper will be served at 5:30 p.m., preceded by a social time at 5.

To facilitate planning, those attending may reserve a ticket by calling 364-4201 and leaving a message on voice mail. The menu will consist of spaghetti and meatballs, rolls, salad and spice cake, plus beverage.

The county Democrats will have a booth at the Oxford Hills Business Showcase on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 26 and 27, at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. County Committee Vice Chairman Roy Gedat is chairing the effort and has announced plans to conduct a 2008 Democratic nominee straw poll similar to that at the Fryeburg Fair.

Sen. Bruce Bryant, Rep. Terry Hayes and Briggs accompanied a delegation from Canton and Hartford to the Statehouse recently to discuss issues relating to the dam in Canton and present a petition expressing concern of the towns regarding the situation.

The county Democratic booth at the Oct. 13 Oktoberfest in Rumford was staffed by Newell, Sue Waterhouse and Stacey Steward.
