Flower shop hosts fourth give-away for food bank
LEWISTON – Blais Flowers and Garden Center recently hosted its fourth annual seedling give-away at its Webster Street location. Customers were given an opportunity to make donations to Good Shepherd Food-Bank and receive free year-end seedlings. The amount of $400 was raised.
Michelle Gosselin, director of development for the food bank, said, “We’re thankful for the generosity of Blais’ customers, who gave $400 to help put food on the tables of those who struggle. Good Shepherd Food-Bank can turn this donation into more than 2,500 pounds of food and will make a significant difference to people and families in our community.”
Good Shepherd is one of Maine’s largest hunger relief organizations, providing food to a network of more than 600 nonprofit agencies throughout the state. More than 70,000 people are fed each month through the collaborative efforts of food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless and abuse shelters, group and foster homes, recovery centers and programs for children and the elderly.
