LEWISTON – Volunteers will plant 5,000 tulip bulbs at public gardens Tuesday in support of the Maine Cancer Foundation’s Pink Tulip Project.

Bulbs will go in at Veterans’ Park, Androscoggin Home Care, Bates College, Central Maine Medical Center and St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, among others. The Pink Tulip Project raises money for the Maine Cancer Foundation Women’s Cancer Fund. This year’s goal is to raise $35,000 statewide.

Interested participants can provide support for a specific community garden and sponsor bulbs in honor of a loved one or in celebration of a survivor at the Pink Tulip Project Web site at www.pinktulipproject.org or by phoning 773-2533. Donations to support the project can be mailed to Pink Tulips, Maine Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 553, Portland, ME 04112.

For those who wish to plant pink tulip bulbs in their home gardens, bulbs can be ordered through the Web site.
