OXFORD – A dryer fire early Monday afternoon caused minimal damage to a mobile home at 262 Goldwater Brook Road. Firefighters responded to the home, which is off Route 26, quickly snuffing the blaze with a hand-held extinguisher.

Firefighter Sean Cordell said lint in the dryer appears to be the cause for the fire.

He recommends that homeowners do regular maintenance of their dryers to prevent a similar situation by taking off the hose and vacuuming it to get the lint out. All vent hoses that are attached to the dryer should be metal. Plastic vent hoses are no longer legal, he said.
