AUBURN – The Department of Maine Marine Corps League meeting will be sponsored by the Central Maine Detachment 810 on Sunday, Nov. 4, at the New Auburn American Legion Post 153, 71 South Main St. (use side door on Cook Street).

A buffet lunch will be served at noon. Following the lunch, a special ceremony will take place for the corps’ birthday.

The corps was formed on Nov. 10, 1775.

A large birthday cake will be cut by the oldest (first cut) and youngest (second cut) Marine using military swords.

After the meeting, all will gather across the street at Raymond Park, where the Boy Scouts had raised funds for a large monument that honors all veterans who gave their lives in wars and conflicts.

The Marines will place a wreath in honor of veterans who gave their lives.

Following this, the Military Order of the Devil Dog Growl will meet.

The New Auburn American Legion Post 153 welcomes the Department of Maine Marine Corps League with a banner and flags in honor of the 232 years of service.
