MONMOUTH – Mavis Elinore Walker, 80, a resident of Main Street, Monmouth, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Nov. 16, 1926, in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Gordon J. and Daisy E. McDonnell Hall. She attended Lewiston schools and graduated from Lewiston High School.

On March 3, 1944, in Lewiston, she married Nelson “Bill” Walker. He passed away in 1983. In her early years, she worked at Lewiston, Auburn and Monmouth shoe factories, the Bank of Maine in Monmouth, for five years, (which is now the Bangor Savings) and also worked for seven years at Caswell Liquidation Co. as the office manager.

She was an avid reader, but her biggest joy was her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Deirdre White and her husband, Brian, of Monmouth, Stephen Walker and his wife, Lorraine, of Chesapeake, Va., and Heather Brigham and her husband, Glenn, of Chelmsford, Mass.; two brothers, Walter Hall and his wife, Alice, of Deerfield, Fla., and Robert A. Hall and his wife, Elaine, of Lisbon; a sister, Marion Biron of Deerfield, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Jared and Ashleigh Walker, Patrick Dumais and Sarah Brigham.

She was predeceased by her husband, Nelson Walker; two brothers, Gordon J. Hall and William “Bill” Hall; and two sisters, Audrey A. Dumont and Lorna Eckles.
