NEW SHARON – All parties have agreed to dismiss a lawsuit filed by a contractor appealing the selectmen’s award of a snowplowing and snow-removal contract to another company.

Robert T. Ames of New Sharon claimed in his appeal filed in Franklin County Superior Court in September that the town didn’t follow legal bid procedures, and the award to the highest bidder was arbitrary and capricious.

Town officials denied the allegations and any wrong-doing, and said they followed the bid process to award the contract to EJ Pond & Sons of New Sharon.

Pond bid about $139,000 for the contract; Ames bid about $134,000.

Ames said in a statement this week that he believes the bid process in town needs to be reviewed but encouraged residents to support Pond.
