LEWISTON – Rita Dugie, 80, of Hancock Street in Rumford, died Sunday, Oct. 28, at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born in Rumford on July 2, 1927, a daughter of Robert and Annie (Fitzmorris) Dugie. She was educated in Rumford schools and lived locally all of her life.

She was employed for many years with EK Day in Rumford, until it was sold and became Franel, where she worked until it closed.

She loved to listen to her scanner. She also loved crocheting, especially knitting, and would donate many pairs of mittens, afghans and baby blankets to people in need.

She spent many hours corresponding with relatives and friends to keep up on current affairs.

The family remembers her as being a very good-hearted person with a mind of her own.

She is survived by her first cousins, Donald Fitzmaurice and wife, Barbara, of North Berwick and Walter J. Fitzmaurice and wife, Lorraine, of North Reading, Mass.; as well as several other cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents.
