NORWAY – Edith E. Rowe, (Deedie) 91, of Bethel died Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center.
She was born in Newry, Dec. 25, 1915, the daughter of Robert W. and Paulina Smith Enman. She attended school in Rumford and graduated from Stephens High School in 1932. She married Herbert R. Rowe of Bethel and they lived most of their married life in Bethel, except during World War II. They lived in Gardiner while he worked at Bath Iron Works. He died in 1986.
She was employed at Bosserman’s Drug Store in Bethel for 10 years and was an Avon representative for 10 years. She was a member of the West Parish Congregational Church in Bethel and the Bethel Senior Citizens. She enjoyed playing beano and was an avid birdwatcher. She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
She is survived by a daughter, Margery R. Swan of South Paris; three grandsons, the Rev. Bruce and his wife, Debra Swan, of Springfield, Jeffrey and his wife, Gini Swan, of Dixfield and Todd Swan of Bethel; two great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters, Joshua and Douglas Swan, Stacy and her husband, Richard Fidler, Rebecca Swan, Shania Swan, Jen Swan and Ashley Swan; one sister-in-law, Rosalind Rowe Chapman of Bethel; two great-great-grandsons, Ricky and Zachary Fidler; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert; two sisters, Elsie Davis and Eva Perry; five brothers, Lester, Leon, Earle, Everett and Herbert Enman; and her son-in-law, Harry Swan Jr.
