BANGOR (AP) – Maine’s Land Use Regulation Commission has endorsed a scaled-down development plan that includes 31 lots on and near the shore of Moosehead Lake in Beaver Cove.
Developer Hank McPherson put forth the new proposal after the wilderness zoning agency last year rejected his 70-lot project. LURC said it was too far from existing development and failed to protect the area’s unspoiled qualities.
The revised plan, which places the subdivision closer to Beaver Falls, will go before the LURC board on Wednesday in Rockwood.
At that time, the panel will also discuss the timeframe for review of Plum Creek Timber’s vastly larger and more controversial development proposed for the Moosehead Lake region.
