WEST BOWDOIN – Edith M. VanZile, 68, of West Bowdoin, passed away peacefully Saturday morning at her home with her family by her side.
She was born in Bloomfield, N.J., on May 14, 1939, the daughter of Stanley and Winifred Kalinowski. She grew up in the Bloomfield area and attended Bloomfield schools.
On April 7, 1956, Edith married Earl VanZile Sr. and they started a family. During that time, Edith tended to raising her family and taking care of her home.
After moving to Maine in 1990, Edith started working for Executive Communications Answering Service, where she worked up until the present.
Edith will always be remembered for her enjoyment of playing cards, Bingo, swimming, and being around her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Earl VanZile Sr., of West Bowdoin; two children, Earl “Skip” VanZile Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of West Bowdoin, and Gregory VanZile and his wife, Susan, of New Albany, Miss.; and one sister, Winifred Boughton and her husband, Glenn, of West Milford, N.J.
She also leaves behind an aunt, Marjorie Karnas of New York; as well as four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Edith was predeceased by two children, Jeffrey and Steven VanZile; and one sister, Florence.
