ELLINGTON, Conn., – Jean (Douglas) Johnson, 80, beloved and devoted wife of Richard T. Johnson of Ellington, Conn., died Friday, Nov. 2, at her home.
Born in Rumford on Oct. 26, 1927, daughter of the late Robert and Ione (Farnham) Douglas, she had lived in Manchester, Conn., for many years before moving to Ellington, Conn., in 2006.
Jean was a nurturing third- grade teacher for the Manchester Board of Education for 19 years, and taught at Waddell School.
She and her husband wintered in Florida for many years.
She enjoyed cooking and traveling, and most of all being a grandmother. Jean was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her husband of 48 years, Richard, she leaves her children, twins Richard Johnson of Rowlett, Texas, and Nancy Purnhagen and her husband, Vincent, of Ellington, Conn.; and six grandchildren, Audrey, Alyssa, Amanda and Jack Purnhagen, and Cooper and Callie Johnson.
She was predeceased by a sister, Roberta Douglas.
