GUILFORD (AP) – Authorities say a 78-year-old man’s body was found by a hunter three-days after he was last seen, ending a search by game wardens, Piscataquis County sheriff’s deputies and volunteers.
Lieutenant Pat Dorian of the Maine Warden Service says the body of William Haskell of Guilford was found this afternoon in a thickly wooded area about 300 yards from his pickup truck, which had become stuck on a woods trail. Dorian says Haskell had locked the truck and walked away.
Dorian says Haskell was last seen Wednesday and was reported missing the next day. Searchers used a plane and helicopter in an attempt to locate Haskell.
