AUBURN – General Dynamics recently contributed $5,000 to Central Maine Community College for the purchase of a sophisticated measuring tool to be used in the machine tool technology lab.
Officials at General Dynamics became aware that the lab could make use of the device while a number of its employees were undergoing training at the college during the summer.
“General Dynamics Operations was pleased to contribute a check to Central Maine Community College this week for purchase of a micro-height measuring system,” said LaPerriere.
“Micro-heights are a key inspection tool at Saco Operations for both in-process and final inspection characteristics and are an essential component for comprehensive employee training,” said LaPierre, “Because the school doesn’t own a micro height, Saco Operations loaned one to CM this past July during the two-week operator training program.
“This donation to CM will provide the machine tool technology program the funding to purchase one micro-height that will benefit both the students and future General Dynamics training program employees.”
